BIO

Elinora Schwartz is a multi-disciplinary artist. She was born in 1960, and currently lives and works in Jerusalem. She graduated the Rubin Academy in dance and graduated the photography program at Musrara School of Art in 2019.

Schwartz’s creative life is kept in secret since she is an artist belonging to the Jewish Ultra-Orthodox community, which forbids using computers and the internet. Schwartz lives a double life which leads to a constant tension.

Schwartz's works in video and other media focused on autobiographical experiences that critically address issues such as gender, hierarchy, power relationships and identity. This is a silent protest against a patrical system which allows man/ husband/ Rabbi almost exclusive control over women. This system uses religion and distort the truth against women.
